AXA LM acquires GERA Pool

AXA Liabilities Managers (AXA LM) announced the signing of the acquisition of the GERA Pool (European Aviation Reinsurance Group), which came into effect on January 1, 2015.

The transaction, in which AXA LM took over the shares of the existing 25 pool members, was conducted by AXA LM’s investment vehicle AXA DBIO, which invests in run-off portfolios and companies. The GERA Pool was specialised in aviation reinsurance risks and was put in run-off in 1998.

“This complex transaction involving many counterparts confirmed that, as an acquirer of run-off portfolios, AXA LM is highly attractive. It has contributed to the reinforcement of AXA LM’s positioning in the run-off market and fits our development strategy,”commented Sylvain Villeroy de Galhau, head of M&A.
