Batelco supports insurance project
Batelco will pump BHD850,000 into the National Health Insurance Programme (Sehati).
Supreme Council for Health president Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa recently signed the agreement with Batelco chairman Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
Senior SCH officials and Batelco executive management attended. The contribution will go towards supporting SCH-led initiatives to develop the health sector in Bahrain.
Under the agreement, the company will also network medical records and systems between all health centres and hospitals operating in Bahrain. The networking phase is a crucial step before the implementation of the health insurance scheme. Sehati will turn the Health Ministry into a regulator while centres and hospitals will be providers of medical services.
Batelco will also finance feasibility consultancies for hospital self-management and Sehati projects and provide cloud computing services through the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA). Once launched, Sehati will enable patients to report to the hospital of their choice.
