Antares launched in Singapore

Antares, a member of the QIC Group, has announced the launch of Antares Underwriting Asia Pte. Limited (Antares Asia), a new offering on the Lloyd’s Asia Platform. The new business has received approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore and Lloyd’s Asia to begin underwriting from November 2015.

Antares Asia will initially underwrite a core portfolio of Marine, Property and Specialty products, building on the strengths of Antares Syndicate 1274, before looking to expand its available products to include the full range currently available within the Group. Its focus is on specialist insurance and reinsurance lines such as Marine (Hull, Cargo, Specie, Marine Liability & Offshore Energy),
Property (Property & Onshore Energy) and
Specialty (Terrorism, Professional Indemnity & Financial Institutions).

It will be led by Li Shan Yeo who joins as chief executive officer of the new business, and will build a strong team of local underwriters to enhance existing relationships with clients and brokers in the region.
