Zurich celebrates 30 years in the region

Zurich Middle East is marking its 30th anniversary in the region with a series of initiatives and appointments aligned with its objective of becoming the leading provider of life insurance in the Middle East with plans to develop an array of new products and solutions for both its Retail and Corporate customers.

“We are committed in the Middle East to being customer first, closer to the market and creating stronger collaboration between our Retail and Corporate customer segments,” said Walter Jopp, CEO of Zurich Middle East.

Zurich has over 20 percent market share in gross written premiums in the region and has a leading role in supplying employer-sponsored workplace savings schemes to over 500 companies across the GCC, according to a statement.

To help grow further and achieve its strategic goals, Zurich has taken several recent steps, such announcing appointments in market management and sales for the region, leveraging a new management structure create better synergies between the Retail and Corporate customer segments and deliver improved outcomes for the market, and moving to a regional headquarters in Dubai, supported by the firm’s three other offices in the region – Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Qatar.

“I look forward to welcoming Theo to the local management team at this exciting time and trust that, together with Fadi Ashkar, Swarnaleka Shetty, Taru Singhal and Rayner Britto, we will continue to grow our business and become the local life insurer of choice,” added Jopp.
